A solar lighter works by concentrating the sunlight to create enough heat to ignite a combustible material.
How it works?
The working of solar lighter is as follows:
1. Reflective or Focusing Surface
Solar lighters use a parabolic mirror (often made of metal) to focus sunlight into a single, intense point. The mirror has concave shape which directs sunlight efficiently onto a single point.
2. Focusing Sunlight
When the mirror is placed in direct sunlight, the reflective concave surface captures and concentrates the sun’s rays onto a small focal point.

3. Generating heat
The concentrated sunlight produces enough heat at the focal point to ignite flammable materials like paper, dry grass, or char cloth.
4. Ignition
The high temperature at the focal point causes the material to smolder or catch fire, which can then be used to start a larger fire.
Use of Solar Lighters
Solar lighters are environmentally friendly and require no fuel, making them ideal for camping, survival situations, or as an emergency fire-starting tool. They work best in clear, sunny conditions.
